Daily Maintenance and Care of Label Slitting Machines

Time : Nov 14 2024

Proper maintenance of Label Slitting Machines is crucial. This article details daily upkeep steps, ensuring machine longevity and optimal performance.

1. Cleaning Work
Cleaning the Machine Body: After completing the production tasks every day, use a clean and soft cloth to wipe the surface of the label slitting machine to remove dust, paper scraps and other debris. Pay special attention to cleaning around the operation panel and display screen to prevent dust from entering and affecting the electrical performance and display clarity. For stubborn stains that are difficult to wipe off, a small amount of mild cleaner can be used, but make sure that the cleaner does not flow into the electrical components and mechanical parts inside the machine.
Cleaning the Cutting Tools: Regular cleaning of the cutting tools is of great importance. Whenever the label material is changed or obvious glue residue and debris are found accumulated on the tools, the machine should be stopped for cleaning. First, carefully remove the tools from the tool holder, and then use a special tool cleaner and a soft brush to gently scrub the blade and the tool body to remove the adhered impurities. After cleaning, dry them with a clean cloth and apply an appropriate amount of anti-rust oil to prevent the tools from rusting. However, be careful not to apply too much anti-rust oil to avoid contaminating the label materials.

2. Maintenance of Cutting Tools
Tool Inspection: Before starting the machine each time, the operator should carefully inspect the cutting tools. Check whether there are any chips, wear or blunting on the blade. If there are small chips on the blade, they can be repaired with a whetstone. However, if the chips are large or the wear is severe, the tools should be replaced in a timely manner. Generally speaking, depending on the frequency of use and the nature of the cutting materials, the tools need to undergo a comprehensive inspection and evaluation every 100 to 500 working hours.
Tool Replacement: When it is determined that the tools need to be replaced, the replacement operation should be carried out strictly in accordance with the operation manual of the machine. First, make sure that the machine is completely stopped and the power is turned off. Then, loosen the tool fixing device, carefully take out the old tools, and install the new tools in the correct position. Adjust the height and angle of the tools to maintain an appropriate gap between them and the pressure rollers. After the installation is completed, check the firmness of the tool installation again to avoid the dangerous situation of tool loosening during the operation.

3. Maintenance of Transmission Parts
Lubrication Work: The transmission parts of the label slitting machine, such as gears, chains, and guide rails, need to be lubricated regularly to reduce friction and wear and extend their service life. Generally, use appropriate lubricants to lubricate these parts once a week or according to the running time of the machine (for example, every 50 running hours). For gears and chains, gear oil or special chain lubricants can be used, and the lubricant should be evenly applied to the tooth surfaces and each link of the chain. For guide rails, lubricating oil or grease can be used, and the lubricant is applied to the surface of the guide rail through an oil gun or a smearing tool to ensure that the slider can slide smoothly on the guide rail.
Inspection and Adjustment: Regularly check the running condition of the transmission parts to see if there is any wear, deformation of the gears, looseness or elongation of the chains, or deformation or foreign matter jamming on the guide rails. If serious wear of the gears is found, they should be replaced in a timely manner. If the chains are loose, the chain tensioning device can be adjusted to restore the appropriate tension. For the foreign matter on the guide rails, it should be cleaned up in time, and the straightness and flatness of the guide rails should be checked. If necessary, adjustments or repairs can be made.

4. Maintenance of the Electrical System
Inspection of Wiring: Check the electrical wiring of the label slitting machine at regular intervals (for example, once a month). Check whether there are any damages, aging, short circuits or open circuits in the wiring. Pay special attention to checking whether the connection parts such as plugs, sockets and terminal blocks are firm, and whether there is any looseness or oxidation. For any wiring problems found, they should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner to ensure the safe and stable operation of the electrical system.
Maintenance of Electrical Components: The electrical components, such as motors, sensors and controllers, also need to be inspected and maintained regularly. Check whether the running sound of the motor is normal and whether there is any abnormal heating. If the motor is found to have a fault, it should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner. For sensors, check their sensitivity and accuracy. For example, check whether the photoelectric sensor can detect the edge of the label normally. If there is any deviation, it should be calibrated in a timely manner. The controller should be updated with software and the parameters should be backed up regularly to prevent data loss or program failures.

5. Regular Calibration and Debugging
Accuracy Calibration: In order to ensure the cutting accuracy of the label slitting machine, regular accuracy calibration is required. Generally, use standard calibration tools (such as steel rulers with known accuracy or special calibration templates) to calibrate parameters such as cutting width and length every quarter or according to the requirements of the production process. Adjust the transmission ratio of the machine, the position of the cutting tools or the parameters of the control system to make the cutting accuracy meet the production standards. During the calibration process, records should be kept to track the changes in the accuracy of the machine.
Performance Debugging: According to the changes in label materials or the adjustments of the production process, the performance of the label slitting machine should be debugged. For example, when using new label materials, it may be necessary to adjust parameters such as cutting speed and tension control to obtain the best cutting effect. During the debugging process, adjust the parameters step by step and observe the quality of the cut labels, such as the flatness of the cut edges and whether there are scratches on the label surface, until satisfactory results are achieved. Meanwhile, record the debugged parameters as a reference for future production of labels made of the same materials.
